Today, Wednesday 10 August, Europa Verde and Sinistra Italiana announced the inclusion of Italian civil society leading figures as heads of the list for the national elections taking place on 25 September.
Mélanie Vogel, co-chair of the European Green Party, comments:
We express our satisfaction for the participation of Europa Verde in the broad progressive coalition for the upcoming early elections in Italy.
We welcome the openness of Alleanza Verdi e Sinistra to the civil society. In particular, we believe that the leading role of Aboubakar Soumahoro will give new energy to the Italian progressives to fight against nationalism and xenophobia.
Vula Tsetsi, committee member of the European Green Party, adds:
Aboubakar’s relentless engagement for the most invisible ones in society strengthens even further the Greens’ political agenda whose goal is to combine social justice with ecological transformation.
As European Greens our long-term goal has been and will continue to be to support the broadening of the base of the Green movement in Italy and we believe today marks an important step in this direction.
