Vula Tsetsi, co-chair of the European Green Party, stated:
“In the face of the dramatic and inhumane situation in Gaza, and the mounting toll of civilian lives including the deaths of thousands of children, there is no time to wait. Israel’s Prime Minister Netanyahu must be held accountable before the International Criminal Court for war crimes committed in Gaza.
The European Green Party calls for a full embargo on arms and equipment exports to Israel.
We also urge the European Commission and Member States to immediately suspend the EU-Israel Association Agreement. This is fully justified under Article 2, due to Israel’s continued and systematic violations of international law and human rights. The trade aspects of the Agreement fall under the Commission’s direct competence and allow for swift and decisive action. The credibility of the European Union and its commitment to peace, human dignity, and international law is on the line. It is time to act.”
Ciarán Cuffe, co-chair of the European Green Party, added:
“The government of Prime Minister Netanyahu and the Israeli military are responsible for some of the gravest violations of international law and human rights in recent memory. They must be held accountable. We repeat our demands for an immediate and lasting ceasefire, full legal accountability, and unhindered humanitarian access.
Civilians in Gaza are being starved and killed while international law is openly disregarded. The time for words has passed. The EU must live up to its legal and moral responsibilities.
In this context, the attitude of U.S. President Donald Trump toward Netanyahu and his government is outrageous and dangerously complicit. His rhetoric and political support do not just ignore the suffering on the ground—they actively enable further violations of international law and undermine the international community’s efforts to restore justice and peace."
