In 2025, the European Green Party stood shoulder to shoulder with citizens in Budapest and Belgrade to defend freedom and democracy against autocrats like Hungarian prime minister Viktor Orbán and Serbian president Aleksandar Vučić.
The Greens support those affected by wildfires, droughts, floods and storms. Across Europe, the Greens oppose the rampant climate denial. We fight against the dismantling of Europe’s action for clean air, affordable energy, and a liveable future for all. In every crisis, and at every COP, the Greens insist on putting the people and the planet above profit.
The Greens have been unanimous and unwavering in their support for Ukraine's struggle for sovereignty, and in their condemnation of the genocide perpetrated by the Netanyahu government.
Green parties across Europe have renewed their leadership and strengthened their movements. From Zack Polanski and the Green Party of England and Wales inspiring a new wave of activists, to Green leaders across the continent uniting for climate justice, the movement is growing stronger every day.
The fight for a viable, sustainable future is closely linked to the fighting for democracy, freedom, and social justice. The backlash against our shared values is real. But so is our determination to defend the core European and Green values.
The years of turbulence are not over yet. That’s why, on 6 December, the Greens from across Europe will come together in Lisbon to strategise, act and chart the next chapter in our fight for the people and the planet.
