Stop the pressure on Green activist from Krasnodar

Pressure on Anastasia Denisova, human rights and green activist, coordinator of GROZA (Green Alternative) group in Krasnodarskiy region.

On October 12, 2009, in Krasnodar officials of Economic Crime Department and commercial firm “SPECTR” broke into the room where Anastasia Denisova was working. They showed the appeal of “SPECTR” about the existence of counterfeited copies of some software in the office of GROZA, but the address in the appeal did not coincide with the address of the room. After confiscation of three system units, officials demanded that Anastasia signed the obligation to report to police station the next day. When Anastasia refused to sign anything, Economic Crime Department officials tried to take her by her hands and get her to the police station as if to verify her identity. Only the strong protest on behalf of Anastasia helped her to escape being brought away in the grey OPEL with no number plate.

If is noteworthy, that since this summer, Anastasia Denisova has been suffering from serious pressure.

In August 2009, Anastasia Denisova along with photo-journalist went to Abkhazia. On their way back they were stopped for seven hours by the customs officers. Anastasia’s luggage was checked-up in order to find any drives (laptops, disks, sticks, etc.), in the absence of any, the customs officers and Russian border service officers questioned her for several hours on end about her activities. At the same time photo-journalist who accompanied Anastasia in Abkhazia was checked-up and more than 20 GB of information were copied from his laptop. These disks with information were forwarded to the expertise “on extremism”.

In September 2009 Anastasia was invited to Warsaw by OSCE/ODIHR take part in the Human Dimension Implementation Meeting, but she failed to depart from Krasnodar International Airport.

The university, where Anastasia taught English, refused to prolong the contract after four years of mutually beneficial cooperation.

European Greens demand to stop the illegal pressure on Anastasia Denisova, coordinator of GROZA in Krasnodar region.
