"This council condemns the British Government and the Irish Government Agency 'Forfas' for suggesting that nuclear generated power should not be ruled out as an option in meeting projected demand for electricity. It is ironic that this suggestion comes at the time of the 20th anniversary of the Chernobyl disaster, the world’s worst nuclear accident.
"This lack of vision shows the inability of the conventional political establishment to propose sustainable energy solutions to safeguard future generations from the recklessness of the present political leadership. If these proposals proceed, an enormous financial and health risk burden will be placed on our children and children's children."
