On launching a common electoral campaign for the 2009 European elections

The 6th EGP council decides to organize again a common electoral campaign for the 2009 European elections.

The council mandates the committee to prepare a proposal on the Campaign Steering Group for the Vienna Council (12-14th October) where it has to be decided upon.  The proposal should include a clear description of the tasks, a proposal concerning the personal composition and a working program.

The council charges the committee and in particular its treasurer to look at the legal instrument(s) to organize the financial aspects of the common campaign. This should not only include a plan concerning the financial contributions of the member parties, but also a proposal for fundraising.

 The council asks the committee to open consultations with the parties in order to get their reactions about the nature of the political platform that should be prepared for the 2009 electoral campaign. (Common Manifesto, Common Platform, Common Program, Green Contract with the voters etc)

The committee together with the common campaign steering group is asked to prepare a draft call for a restricted tender for selecting a publicity agency which will be in charge of the design of the 2009 campaign materials.
