‘This Council denounces the Irish Government’s plans to put incineration technology as its preferred method of managing waste. It is clear that there has been a total failure to consider reasonable alternatives to the introduction of ‘Waste to Energy’ technology. This failure to examine alternatives and give priority to reducing, reusing and recycling, shows a complete lack of vision in tackling the problem.
We call on the Irish Government to reverse the decision and adopt sustainable policies to waste management that will not harm the health of the Irish population or the environment.
