Responding to the detention of activists attempting to break the illegal blockade of Gaza, including Cerisa van Kesteren of the Dutch Youth Greens Dwars, the co chairs of the European Green Party called for their immediate release.
‘The humanitarian situation in Gaza is abominable. Cerisa, and all of the international activists sailing to break the Israeli blockade, represent all of us who are horrified by Israel’s genocide of Palestinians. End the blockade, stop the genocide, free the activists, now,’ said Ciarán Cuffe, Co-Chair of the European Green Party.
‘Europe cannot stand idly by while Israel commits genocide against the Palestinian people, and illegally detains those trying to peacefully break the siege on Gaza. Silence and inaction make Europe complicit. We call on the European Commission to immediately suspend the EU-Israel Association Agreement and make clear that there can be no business as usual with a government that systematically violates international law,’ said Vula Tsetsi, Co-Chair of the European Green Party.
