Elīna Pinto (Latvia), nominated by Progresīvie, said : “The founding fathers created Europe by uniting coal and steel for peace. Today, it is time for a Europe re-energised for peace through renewables, powered by recovery, respect for diversity and defence resources.”
Bas Eickhout (the Netherlands), nominated by GroenLinks, said: “I will campaign for a Green, socially just Europe that cherishes its diversity and stands for an inclusive society for all. Together we can beat inequality and injustice. I would be honoured to be your Green Spitzenkandidat.”
