After a successful campaign under the slogan ‘Choose Courage’, the European Greens are now calling on people to get out and vote for Green candidates, to stand up to the far right and to ensure that a Green and Social Deal can protect us from climate change, characterised by extreme weather events across Europe.
European Green top candidate Terry Reintke said: “Our slogan is ‘Choose courage’ because 'courage’ is what happens when fear is turned into action. With many crises ongoing, including wars, inflation, extreme weather, the far right: people are understandably afraid. But every human being has the potential to turn that fear into action. We will see that action today in the protests against the far-right AfD in Germany. History has shown that even in the darkest moments, when we are together, courage can emerge. The European Greens want to be on your side at this moment.”
European Green top candidate Bas Eickhout added: "On Thursday we showed in the Netherlands that democracy depends on people who mobilise and go out to vote. As European Greens, we make your voice heard in the places where decisions are made. We have solutions to restore nature, protect human rights and build a fair society. But the threat to all this from the far right is real. So we call on all of our supporters to persuade the people around them to go to the polls and vote for Green candidates. Your vote is your voice, your power and your right. This is your moment. Let's seize it. Get out and vote Green.”
