Terry Reintke

From 6 to 9 June 2024, we will elect a new European Parliament – and Terry Reintke will be one of our two leading candidates. Terry Reintke joined the European Parliament in 2014. Since then, she has made a name for herself in Brussels as a competent and constructive bridge-builder, a tough yet fair negotiator. Since 2022, she has been the chair of the Green Group in the European Parliament.

“We have to stand up to the climate crisis. We have to stand up to a growing divide between a few very rich and the many who struggle. We have to stand up to an attack against democracy. We have to fight for a green future of Europe!”

Terry Reintke was born and raised in the German Ruhr area, a former hub for coalmining and steel production. She understands first-hand what structural change entails – a process many European regions are currently experiencing. She is firmly convinced that the EU is the right framework to initiate the needed steps towards climate neutrality through targeted support and intelligent regulation.

“Our goal is to maintain our prosperity and global competitiveness, create green jobs, and free ourselves from dependence on fossil fuels. A sustainable industry and the production of green hydrogen, for instance for green steel, will be the driving forces in the future.”

As an experienced social policy expert and trade unionist, Terry Reintke passionately advocates for a Europe that spearheads the transition to a climate-neutral economy and ensures fairness for all: good jobs, fair wages – and prosperity not just for a few, but for many. Strengthening the rights of workers and promoting social equity are particularly close to her heart.

For many years, Terry has championed an EU that guarantees minority rights, strengthens democratic institutions, and combats abuse of power – thus protecting freedom. For her, freedom means shaping a society where we collectively and democratically build an inclusive community for all.
