The Youth Role in the EP Elections
The 2019 European Elections were climate elections. The climate crisis was at the core of the public debate and this focus of attention created a favorable for the #GreenWave to reach the European Parliament. Who did that happen? Michael Bloss, MEP, Greens/EFA Group in the European Parliament (Germany) Michael grew up in Stuttgart and studied International Relations and Globalisation and Development in Dresden and London. He worked as a consultant for the United Nations Development Group, in the regional parliament of Baden-Württemberg and for Ska Keller in Brussels, before he was elected to the EP in 2019. There, he is a full member of the Committee on ITRE and a substitute member of the ENVI Committee. Moreover, he is the coordinator of the Climate Core Group within the Greens/EFA Group. Michael became engaged in the Greenpeace youth wing early on and then joined the Grüne Jugend in 2008 were he was active in various functions before he became spokesperson of FYEG in 2013. He recently became member of the party board of Bündnis 90/Die Grünen in his home region, Baden-Württemberg. |

Mina Tolu, FYEG Co-Spokesperson Mina Tolu is a trans, queer and feminist activist with over 9 years experience in communications and campaigns. Mina has worked with LGBTQI organisations on the national and European level, including for TGEU - Transgender Europe. They ran for the European Parliament elections in 2019 and was part of FYEG’s Young Candidates Platform and FYEG Campaign Team. Nils Rübelmann, FYEG Executive Committee Member Nils is an antifascist and climate justice activist from Dresden, Germany. He believes in movements, direct action and the power of determined people. That’s why he organizes and participates in demonstrations, direct actions and other forms of protests. And he believes in party politics, because parties can transform political ideas into concrete change.
