The meeting rules for the online Council and the voting list will be presented during this session. An introduction to the technical side of the Council will also take place.

       Friday, 12 June 2020       RESTART EUROPE - Open conference

The "Restart Europe" conference is an OPEN EVENT during the Council where everyone is welcome to register as a participant.

In a unique online conference setting, all the registered participants will be able to take an active part in interactive workshops, virtual exhibitions, panels, get to know Greens from all around Europe and beyond, and even attend a concert.

Participants will be able to re-visit the conference site after the event and access all the materials used for the conference. For those who will not attend the full program, panels will be live-streamed on our social media platforms and recordings will be available on our website after the event.

 
 

All-day Exhibitions

Participants of the online Council will have a chance to get to know EGP’s partners and TILT! by visiting their virtual exhibition stands. The stands will be available for registered participants to visit all day on Friday. (read more)

The sessions will be organized as interactive webinars and will address a variety of relevant issues related to the consequences of the current COVID-19 crisis. Parallel sessions are open for all registered participants. Some sessions might be live-streamed.

 
 

1. Local responses to the consequences of the Covid-19 crisis

Local councilors from several European cities and towns will share the practices and lessons learnt from responding to the corona crisis. The focus will be on issues of public transportation, sustainable tourism, and air pollution. (read more)

2. Gender perspectives on Covid-19 Crisis - Labour and gender pay gap

The current health crisis has an impact at all levels of society and this session aims to raise awareness about some of the gendered impacts of Covid-19 crisis. The European Greens will talk with experts and decision-makers about the role of and situation facing care workers as well as legislative tools to address the gender pay gap and the Corona crisis, including the Directive on Pay Transparency, the Gender Equality Strategy and the EU Recovery Plan. 3. Covid-19 and social justice - recovery with solidarity in its heart

European solidarity in addressing the deepening inequalities caused by the projected recession is crucial. This is especially true in such vital areas as access to healthcare, to the labour market, and to education. This session will focus on social justice in Europe in times of crisis. (read more)

4. The impact of the COVID-19 crisis on democracy and freedoms

This session looks at the impacts of COVID-19 on democracy and freedoms in Europe and beyond. (read more)

This panel will feature an exchange of opinions and visions for creating a more resilient Europe post-crisis. Well-known experts, politicians, authors, NGO representatives and journalists will discuss the different aspects of our society that have been impacted by the crisis - including health care systems, welfare states, labour, democracy, and geopolitical relations - and how we can emerge from this emergency and build a better tomorrow.  18:30 - 20:00  Panel "Restart Europe - Green Compass for Socio-Economic Transformation"

This panel will focus on the Green recovery plan and climate crisis, including a discussion on the European Green Deal, and how we can advocate for a European recovery built on strong climate action. Ministers, Members of the European Parliament (MEPs), and leading Green politicians from all over Europe will exchange valuable lessons learned from dealing with the economic and financial aspects of the crisis. They will share their visions and proposals for the recovery and building a more resilient future. (read more)

Just because we are not in the same place that doesn’t mean that we can’t have fun! The conference will be crowned with an online concert by Lisa Hannigan.

A versatile Irish folk-pop singer/songwriter and multi-instrumentalist, Lisa Hannigan made a name for herself as the vocal partner of fellow countryman Damien Rice before setting out on her own in 2008 with the release of her Mercury Prize-nominated debut Sea Sew. (read more)
