We are happy to invite you to the Resilient Municipalities and Regions conference by the Local Councillors Network (date to be confirmed).
The Covid-19 pandemic clearly showed how municipalities are at the forefront of tackling a crisis. Measures taken by national governments needed to be implemented on a local level, directly impacting their citizens. It also showed the vulnerability of our current society, where the local level needed to absorb many of the consequences of being unprepared for such a crisis.
Resilient municipalities and regions are able to absorb, recover and prepare for future shocks, while continuing to adapt and transform their municipality in a sustainable way. Resilient municipalities and regions work with their inhabitants, businesses and institutions to find answers to the impact of climate change, urbanisation and globalisation.
The measures to address the different challenges that lie ahead, need a long term and sustainable approach. Greens are committed to take on this responsibility and drive the change towards building the resilient municipalities and regions prepared for the future.
The EGP’s Local Councillors Network is organising a 2-day conference that will explore how cities and communities can become more resilient. During the conference, we will share knowledge, solutions, ideas and best practices to inspire each other.
Valencia, Spain, will serve as the host city for our conference. Together with our local host party, Verdes Equo, we will organise workshops, panel discussions, showcases and networking opportunities.
We want to make sure many of you will come to Valencia, which is why we will reimburse travel and accommodation for a number of local councillors. If you have the possibility to finance your own travel and accommodation, we ask you to indicate that on the registration. That means that we can fund someone else to come as well.
