Let’s build a better tomorrow - Green Economy and Energy transition as a recovery goals for Croatia

Sunday, 15 November, 2020 - 11:00 to 13:00

Let’s build a better tomorrow - Green economy and energy transition as recovery goals for Croatia

Organised by the European Greens and hosted by Sustainable Development of Croatia (ORaH)

You can follow the live stream on this link

The intersection of processes such as the path to the adoption of the European Climate Law, the EU's 2030 and 2050 climate targets, the European Green Deal and EU's recovery plan (the Next Generation EU) is a chance for a green and sustainable future for Croatia. Through these processes the transition towards a low-carbon economy can be financed and new green jobs can be created. The Croatian economy can and must use this opportunity to move away from current, unsustainable practices.

In March 2020, in the middle of the COVID-19 pandemic, the city of Zagreb suffered a devastating earthquake. The repairing and re-building of public and private buildings and squares is one of the main priorities of public investments.

These events brought the topics of urbanization and the use of public spaces to the forefront of public debate. The questions of climate change and energy efficiency on the local level have been gaining more attention in the public, also in the light of the local elections that will take place in the Spring or Summer of 2021.

This reconstruction and recovery must not only ensure that lost livelihoods are regained and that damaged infrastructure is replaced, but also that the social, economic and environmental sustainability of the country is guaranteed.

Please note:

The physical part of the event will take place as planned only if the rules of the respective authorities in the country allow.
