Mark your calendars to join us in Dunkirk, France on August 26 where we will join the French Greens, Europe Écologie Les Verts (EELV) for their Journées d’été. The Journées d’été is an annual event done by EELV where they bring together Green activists from across the country for a few days of debate, learning, and fun, all while embracing the local culture of the host city.

For the first time ever, the EGP is co-organizing a day focused on Europe, where we will look at its current challenges and Green solutions. We hope you will join us there!

You can see more information about the entire event here.

The Europe day will be held in both French and English on 26 August. The rest of the program on 24-25 August will be in French only.

Members of EGP member parties can apply for financial support for travel and accommodation by emailing morgan.henley@europeangreens.eu

Saturday, 26 August

08:00   Registration opens

09:00 –10:30    Forum 1- Democratising Europe! How democratic are our nation states, the economy, the EU?

After Brexit, calls for a Frexit or a Grexit, the EU suffers from not being able to develop ambitious policies in many areas or fight against fiscal fraud and evasion or the retreat of personal liberties. Further, EU citizens feel they do not have any power on the policy making process. How could we open room for change and build a EU that represents all of its citizens and be an agent of progressive change?

Forum 2- Oceans, common goods under pressure

Oceans' subtle ecosystems are in danger due to climate change, overfishing, maritime trafficking, and pollution. How can we solve these challenges? What can do the EU in managing this common good in a harmonious way?

10:30 –11:00   Coffee-break

11:00 – 13:00  Plenary 1- The European Migration Policies of Tomorrow: What do we want?

For years, the wave of refugees to Europe has put into question the EU and its member states for their responses to the rising challenge of dealing with the crisis in a humane manner. All the while, migration is not only limited to war refugees but also include climate refugees and economic migrants which challenge our policies as well. In order for us to preserve both our social organization and our capacity to welcome migrants, this discussion will look at ways to how the EU and its member states can review their strategies and build a better response to this serious issue.

13:00 - 14:00   Lunch

14:00 – 15:30 Plenary 2- How to build the EU when public & personal liberties are in danger?

Throughout Europe, public and personal liberties are increasingly under threat. What tools does the EU have to counter these trends and build a Europe that preserves rights and protections for all of its citizens? In this panel we will hear about the situation and proposed solutions from France, Romania, Poland and Turkey.

15:30 - 16:00 Coffee-break

 16:00 - 17:30 Forum 3- Energy and climate : Stronger together!  - IN FRENCH

Through the concrete case study of the new Green report on the Energy governance of the European Union, let’s see and discuss how do Greens work to enshrine our climate objectives in European legislation. Making Europe and climate great again? Challenge accepted.

Forum 4- Building winning Green strategies: Success stories from Austria, Netherlands, Finland and Switzerland

In Austria, Netherlands, Finland or Switzerland, the Greens have reached electoral successes that have inspired the entire Green family. In this forum, we will hear from the campaigners that were behind these incredible successes as well as a French political analyst in order to help give participants the tools and ideas to bring Green electoral success across Europe!

18:00-19:30 Plenary 3- A European Ecological Transition with Job Creation & Industrial Growth

High unemployment in many parts of Europe, the closing of traditional industries, unfair trade policies, challenges from the digital revolution, these concerns are evident across Europe. All the while, we still have a delay in real ecological transformation. In this panel debate, we will look to see how the EU can reverse these negative trends all while building an economy that is more fair, sustainable and Green!

21:00 – ???   Party!
