"On Sunday, 11th of January 2015, a second round of presidential elections were held in Croatia - Kolinda Grabar Kitarović won, having previously placed second in the first round of elections.Ms Kolinda Grabar Kitarović is a member of HDZ – Hrvatska demokratska zajednica, the Christian-Democrats Party. She received support for her candidature from a right-of-centre coalition. She won over Ivo Josipović with 50.74% of the vote; Josipović received 49.26%. The overall turnout was 59.04%.
"ORaH was one of the 17 parties that supported the candidacy of Ivo Josipović, who is Croatia’s current president. As a reminder, last November I sent a letter to Mr Josipović concerning the construction of the thermal power plant fulled by imported coal - "Plomin C", as well as "Ploče". Half of the Greens/EFA supported this move. During the campaign, Mr Josipović clearly stated his opposition towards the construction of the power plant of Ploče, and more importantly, he integrated the concepts of sustainable development and Green economy, for which ORaH and the Greens/EFA stand for, into his program.
"Unfortunately, according to political analysts in Croatia, the greatest responsibility for his failure at these elections was the unsuccessful economic policy of the Croatian Government - this did not reflect in the program of Mr Josipović."
