Commenting on the results of the first round of France’s Presidential election, European Green Party co-chairs Monica Frassoni and Reinhard Bütikofer, said:
“These elections represent an important moment for Europe. French citizens have opened the door for a pro-European presidency under Emmanuel Macron.
"In the first round, Emmanuel Macron has not shown a lot of environmental and climate vision, but if he wants to lead France forward, towards a better economic and social future, he has to integrate Green thinking and a Green New Deal as part of the necessary transformation of both France and the EU.
"We hope that all French democrats will unite in the second round to defeat Marine Le Pen and elect Emmanuel Macron."
