The German Greens had historic results in the federal election in Germany held in September 2021, with 14.8% of the vote! They secured the strongest gains (+5.8%) compared to other parties, almost doubling their vote share from the previous 2017 election and obtaining 118 seats in the Parliament. They also had the best results among young voters, with 22% of those under 30 voting for the Greens.

The 34th European Green Party Council was held on 1 - 4 December 2021. It brough together the Green family to discuss our resolutions and plans for 2022. With our member parties, we will continue to invest in actions that take us a step closer to our vision of a Greener Europe!

As part of the Green Screen project, which engages citizens in contemporary issues through films and debates, we explored how democracy can be enhanced and how citizens can claim their rights when it is not upheld. This month, we featured the film 'the 8th' and held a debate on the rule of law.

The 34th European Green Party Council happening on 1-4 December is fast-approaching! Our resolutions put into writing our common positions after in-depth discussions among the Greens and are voted on by the EGP full member parties at our Councils.

Green leaders gathered in Glasgow for COP26, the climate summit that coordinates the global response to the climate crisis. For the first time, over 100 Greens including young climate activists and members of the Global South were part of the observer delegations, and 7 Green climate ministers were part of the negotiations.

European Greens Co-Chair Thomas Waitz was in Poznań, Poland, on Friday 15 October as part of the Polish Green Recovery Tour which underlines the need for post-COVID-19 recovery to contribute to a just and sustainable ecological transition. Organised by the European Green Party in cooperation with the Polish Greens (Partia Zieloni), the tour is held in 16 cities in Poland.

Evelyne Huytebroeck, Co-Chair of the European Greens, and Vula Tsetsi, Secretary General of the Greens/EFA Group in the European Parliament and Committee Member of the European Greens, visited Greece last weekend to discuss the climate, biodiversity and refugee crises.
