Candidacy to the elections for the Global Greens Coordination / April of 2013
Jean Rossiaud / Swiss Greens

Candidate Global Greens Coordination - Jean Rossiaud
It is a great pleasure for me to send you my application to be elected to the Global Greens Coordination. (You will find below my resume / Curriculum Vitae).
Swiss delegate to the Global Greens (2003-), I am an alternate (substitute) member of GGC since 2007. I will have more availability now to be active as a full member of GGC. I left my professional position of personal advisor in the Municipality of Geneva on March 31st. Since April 1st, I am Coordinator for the Forum for a New World Governance (FnWG). I am based in Geneva, with a large autonomy, and I will have full time for "thinking" and "acting" globally. (For your information: my last paper discussed during the World Social Forum in Tunis, last month).
As an alternate (substitute) member of the Global Greens Coordination, I am particularly aware of the tasks and the duties of a GGC member. I am prepared to offer the availability required for theses responsibilities. I am also conscious of the importance to reinforce the cooperation by institutionalising the organisation, professionalising and enlarging the work and scope of the Global Greens networks. I will obviously accept to perform, with pleasure and dedication, the tasks that will be given to me. Nevertheless, I have specific interests and skills in building institutional networks, which could be useful in order to consolidate national parties and federations, and the cooperation between them.
Actually, for the last 25 years, I am in connection with green activists and movements all over the world, and my new professional position in Geneva will strengthen and widen these links. I attended to every World Social Forum, and to all Green activities organized in their parallel sessions. I already have important personal contacts in Mediterranean countries, in Latin America and in Africa (besides French and English, I speak Spanish and Portuguese). I took part in Global Greens Congress in São Paulo and in Dakar, and I will be interested to be involved in the preparation of our next Congress in Europe in 2016.
Finally, I am willing to share my personal experience, as academic (I taught 17 years at Universities in Geneva, Paris and Brazil) and as political activist (I was elected MP in Canton of Geneva for more than 5 years, and I worked for 6 years, as political adviser for the executive council of the City of Geneva), working in the GGC.
I am convinced that the reinforcement of the Global Greens is essential for the preservation of the Planet and for the emancipation of Humanity. To achieve those goals, the institutionalisation of democratic World Governance will be a necessity. We, European Greens, have a special role to play in stimulating and helping other Green parties in the world to face both environmental and social crisis. But, we have also a lot to learn from other political cultures on the way they respond to environmental and social issues.
I am staying at your disposal for any question or precision you would need.
Green regards,
Jean Rossiaud
