Negotiations to form a government in Sweden between the Social Democrates and Miljöpartiet de gröna, the Green party, have ended successfully. The new Prime Minister Stefan Lövfen has announced his new cabnet, with six ministries going to the Greens.

Swedish Greens set to enter into government
Body:

Sweden is coming to terms with a new political landscape today, after the ruling centre-right coalition were ushered out of government in elections last weekend. The most likely next government will be a minority coalition between the Social Democrats and the Greens, who have said they are ready to begin negotiations.

Duflot and Canfin do not intend to take part in the new French government

Green ministers Cecile Duflot and Pascal Canfin have announced that they do not intend to take part in the new French government, headed by Prime Minister Manuel Valls. The new Prime Minister was named by President Hollande, after Jean-Marc Ayrault resigned after their Socialist Party were the main losers in municipal elections.

Socialistisk Folkeparti have made the difficult decision to pull out of the Danish government, after failing to reach agreement with their coalition partners on the partial sale of Dong, the state-owned energy company, to Goldmann Sachs.

There are two Green members of the cabinet, which is split evenly between women and men, with 17 seats each. EELV National Secretary Cecille Duflot takes the new and important Ministry for Regional Equality and Housing, while MEP Pascal Canfin is the new Deputy Minister with responsiblity for Development, a key area of international solidarity with which we can work to build bridges between North and South.
