The four contenders in the Green Primary will be taking part in two separate debates this week, in Prague and London. The Prague debate, hosted by the Czech Green party Strana zelených will take place on Friday 17 January. The London debate, hosted by the Green Party of England and Wales, will take place the next day, on Saturday 18 January.
At the Green Primary debate in Madrid on Wednesday December 18, Jose Bove, Monica Frassoni, Rebecca Harms and Ska Keller launched a pleas for more solidarity in Europe, and an end to austerity that has had a devastating effect on countries in Southern Europe.
The first of two Green Primary debates scheduled to take place in Germany was held in Northrhine-Westphalia on Sunday, watched by a live audience of over 200 local Greens. The event, which was also streamed online, took place in the historic city of Cologne which is at the centre of Europe. According to debate organisers Bündnis 90/Die Grünen NRW, “although the European Union is suffering a major crisis at the moment, we are still strongly convinced that European problems can only be solved by the people living in Europe working together.”

The first live Green Primary debate took place in Athens this Sunday. Despite the rain, the rows at IONIKO Centre, at the foot of the Acropolis, were filled when moderator Rogier Elshout opened the debate with José Bové, Rebecca Harms, Ska Keller. Monica Frassoni appeared by video.
On Sunday, 24 November the European Green Party and Oikologoi Prasinoi (Ecologist Greens of Greece) are holding a unique debate with the Green Primary Contenders. The debate takes place at 17h00 EET/16h00 CET, in the Ionic Centre in the Plaka neighbourhood in central Athens.
