We are happy to invite you to the Resilient Municipalities and Regions conference by the Local Councillors Network, Greening from the Ground Up: Our Commitment to Resilience, May 7th and 8th, 2022.
The Covid-19 pandemic clearly showed how municipalities are at the forefront of tackling a crisis. Measures taken by national governments needed to be implemented at a local level, directly impacting their citizens. It also showed us the vulnerability of our current society, where the local level is needed to absorb many of the consequences of being unprepared for such a crisis.
Resilient municipalities and regions are able to absorb, recover and prepare for future shocks, while continuing to adapt and transform their municipality in a sustainable way. Resilient municipalities and regions work with their inhabitants, businesses and institutions to find answers to the impact of climate change, economic inequalities, urbanisation and globalisation.
The measures to address the different challenges that lie ahead need a long term, equitable and sustainable approach. Greens are committed to taking on this responsibility and to driving change to build resilient municipalities and regions prepared for the future.
The EGP’s Local Councillors Network is organising a 2-day conference, Greening from the Ground Up: Our Commitment to Resilience, that will explore how cities and communities can become more resilient, socially, economically, and environmentally. During the conference, we will share knowledge, solutions, ideas and best practices to inspire each other!
Valencia, Spain, will serve as the host city for our conference. Together with our local host party, Verdes Equo, we will organise workshops, panel discussions, showcases and networking opportunities.
We want to make sure many of you will come to Valencia, which is why we will reimburse travel and accommodation for a number of local councillors. If you have the possibility to finance your own travel and accommodation, we ask you to indicate that on the registration. That means that we can fund someone else to come as well.
We invite you to join us in Riga, Latvia, on 3-5 June 2022. We are looking forward to gathering as a family once again in these unique times to shape our political action and elect the new Committee of the European Green Party. Come participate and contribute your ideas on how to fight for a more free, peaceful, and democratic Europe that addresses the social, economic and climate crises today.
