A few days ago the US embassy and the EU office agreed that conditions for fair elections are not met despite their previous claims, so the Parliament/ VMRO side of it eventually agreed to postpone them.
Democratic Reform Macedonia (DOM), the Macedonian Green party, have announced that, for the first time, they plan to run their own lists for the upcoming local elections on March 24. The decision allows for stronger promotion of Green policies, and to put sustainable Green solutions at the centre of local communities. Their campaign slogan is, “Choose Green. Breathe freely.”
This week members of the EGP committee Steve Emmott, Alexey Kozlov and Secretary-general Jacqueline Cremers were on a fact finding mission to Macedonia. They were there to meet with applicant party Democratic Renewal of Macedonia and to discuss the political situation in Macedonia with academics, professionals, EU diplomats and NGOs involved in the area.
The European Greens urge the Commission to start as soon as possible a visa liberalisation dialogue with Kosovo is to be started with a view to adopting a roadmap for visa liberalisation and preparing and assisting this country in implementing all the measures that are necessary so that its nationals are exempt from visa.
