Following a visit to Scotland from two survivors of the Bhopal disaster, a delegation of trade union activists visited Bhopal in solidarity for the 30th anniversary in 2014, led by Green activist Eurig Scandrett.
As a result, Trade Union Friends of Bhopal was established to support a grassroots health clinic and children's rehabilitation centre as well as to campaign for justice for the survivors.
The interests of disabled people have since the evolvement of the international movement to promote disability rights, been carried most credibly by Green parties, of all the different political families.
However, up until now there has not been any kind of structured framework on a European, not to mention global level to bring together Green ideas and political actors on the concerns of disabled people.
The Global Greens have prepared a draft resolution “Future of the Global Greens”, foreseen to be voted at the sessions of the Global Greens Congress in Liverpool, 30 March - 2 April 2017.
In Glasgow, we will discuss the process of the development of the resolution as well as the amendment procedure of the resolution, which proves to be complex. We would like to share the draft resolution with you. But to be clear, we are NOT opening the amendments procedure at this stage.
