EGP Co-Chairs Reinhard Bütikofer and Monica Frassoni congratulate the new leadership of the German Green Party:
"With a great show of determination and unity, the German Green party elected a new leadership at their congress in Hanover today. We congratulate Annalena Baerbock and Robert Habeck as the new party co-chairs. They show a convincing will to unite and to grow the Green movement in Germany, to combine radical ambition and pragmatic zeal, and to open up for broad societal alliances in order to change the country and Europe for the better.
"We are looking forward to strong cooperation and we welcome the great emphasis that was given to European issues at the German Greens' party conference.
"At their party conference, Greens also remembered the Holocaust, and after listening to a survivor of the Holocaust pledged anew that this particular German heritage should never be forgotten and must be learned from in defending civic rights and humanitarian guarantees in our time."
