This Conference of the EGP
Noting that the First Past the Post (FPTP) electoral system in operation in the UK is not proportionately represent the will of the people in the Parliament that they elect;
Noting that its effect has been to hold back the political progress of the Green Party of England and Wales;
Noting with alarm that the Governments of Italy and of the Czech Republic are considering adoption the FPTP electoral system,
Calls upon elected Green members in the European Parliament to make reference to the democratic deficit of FPTP at every relevant opportunity , and to vigorously oppose any suggestion that any other states move towards adoption of FPTP in elections at any level.
