Resolution adopted at the EGP Council, Ljubljana, 11-13 April 2008.
-acknowledging that lesbian, gay, bi and trans (LGBT) issues are widely discussed at a European level and should become one of the main issues in the agenda of the EU Institutions
-acknowledging that the Green parties have a long time record of support for LGBT equal rights and non discrimination
-having in regard the European Parliament Resolution on Equal Rights for Homosexuals and Lesbians in the European Union from 1994 by Claudia Roth, and the further initiatives of the Green Group in the European Parliament
-acknowledging the necessity of formalizing our green thoughts and proposals on LGBT issues at a European level
-acknowledging the fact that some LGBT greens gathered in Vilnius in November 2007 for ILGA-Europe conference decided, in a fringe meeting, to officially ask the EGP to create such a working group,
The EGP decides to create the Working Group on LGBT, with the following goals:
-to actively contribute to the programmes and political activities of the EGP, Member Parties and associated organizations in the area of equality and non-discrimination
-to prepare the basics for coordinating the participation of Green MP and MEPs as well as other Green politicians and activists in the various LGBT events all over Europe and – if possible in other parts of the world – in order to assure wide Green representation
-to prepare a basis for exchange of good practices, ideas and knowledge on implementing equality policies at local, national and European level, to provide Green local councillors, MPs, MEPs and activists with additional tools in their work on LGBT issues
