EGP is opening a vacancy for a position of Project Assistant for EGP/FYEG Joint activities starting from mid-July 2023 at its Brussels office.

What is FYEG or the Federation of Young European Greens?
FYEG is an international NGO registered and operating under Belgian law. It is a dynamic youth organisation that unites Green youth movements, young Green activists and Green political organisations from all over Europe. FYEG organises youth projects, summer camps, international trainings, conferences, campaigns, direct actions and serves as a youth lobbying organisation and a platform for the exchange of ideas and knowledge among European Green. Role description
The Projects Assistant is responsible for implementing EGP and FYEG's joint activities.
This is a junior position requiring good organisation and time management skills, responsibility, ability to coordinate with different requests and strategies from various stakeholders, ability to take some initiative and sometimes work under time pressure. It is also an exciting opportunity to liaise between EGP and FYEG to support the green wave in Europe with the upcoming EU elections.
The project assistant will work in the Programme Unit under supervision of the Head of Programme Unit. The Projects Assistant reports to the Secretary General of the EGP and of the FYEG.
Tasks and Responsibilities
- drafting project proposals;
- budgeting and financial management of the projects;
- coordinating the preparation and implementation of the project (including logistics, program, communication, outputs, dissemination, etc.);
- coordinating between EGP and FYEG, plus other stakeholders and volunteers;
- evaluating and reporting on the project and their outputs.
Requirements
- Basic experience in project management;
- Basic experience in event organising and planning, especially youth events;
- Basic experience in project application and reporting, including financial reporting;
- Good organisational and time management skills;
- Ability to take initiative and problem solving attitude;
- Good computer skills and digital literacy;
- Proficiency in the English language;
- Good people skills and the ability to work in multi-cultural teams and environments;
- Good teamwork and personal communication skills;
- Flexibility to travel and occasionally work during evenings or weekends.
Additional assets:
- Previous involvement in a local or international youth organisation, or experience with one of EGP’s or FYEG’s member organisations;
- Knowledge and experience with non-formal education methodology;
- Understanding and adhering to Green values such as ecology, feminism, anti-racism and social justice;
- Knowledge of other languages;
- Experience working in the non-governmental sector;
- Previous participation in FYEG or EGP events.

Work location
The work is mainly located at the European Green Party headquarters: Rue du Taciturne 34, 1000, with occasional travel, both in Belgium and abroad. The selected candidate is required to be based in Belgium from the start of the contract (exact date negotiable).
