Sustainable agriculture is crucial not just for better food systems, but also to get our greenhouse gas emissions to zero. But though it’s a smaller share of emissions than some other sectors, agriculture can be a tough area for reductions. Plus it has a complex relation to other sectors, since it supplies us with our resource inputs and can serve as a carbon sink under the right conditions.
So how can we tackle emissions in agriculture? Is reducing pesticide-use and livestock farming the answer? How exactly does land use and carbon sequestration come into it? What about the CAP reform? Or a just transition for agriculture workers? And where do we even start?
