In November of 2019, the European Parliament declared “a climate and environment emergency” and called on “the Commission, the Member States and all global actors” to declare their own commitment and “urgently take the concrete action needed.”
All over Europe, from the local level to the EU, leaders are declaring a climate emergency to make clear that we, the European people, are taking this seriously and are demanding action to confront climate change. As we continue to fight the health emergency, we cannot forget that we also face an ever growing climate emergency. Local action to declare a climate emergency followed by innovative, fair and sustainable action will make our communities healthier and more resilient — ready to face whatever tomorrow brings!
