Nowadays, appliances are so complicated that not only do you need to go on the net to just get the notice, but you need forums to decipher what is not written in the notice and that your machine does without you talking to it (!)

Geeking! All these new first times already! the latest was this morning ... How do I transfer ebooks from a CD to my Kindle .... Good thing there are these forums .... and that I can speak English! I could connect the Kindle to the computer, the books were in my Kindle on the computer ... but not in my Kindle when disconnected ... how frustating! to have 4gb of books and being unable to reach them!  But here come "the" forums and ... for the first time ... I have been able to transfer my e-books to my Kindle.

The funniest thing has happened though, I have needed help from a forum for my Samsung smartphone and no answers could solve my problem .... I  searched and tried ... and tested ... and in the end I was the one explaining to the others how to do it (!!!)...... Is there such a verb as 'To Geek'? then I am Geeking!

Then, a question came to my mind .... Nowadays, appliances are so complicated that not only do you need to go on the net to just get the notice, but you need forums to decipher what is not written in the notice and that your machine does without you talking to it (!) .... And there are so many functions that even after three years (the time I have had my camera) you discover new possibilities you had never seen!  Is it a question of age? I don't think so ... I remember my parents' first fridge, first washing machine, first TV ..... You just had to plug the thing in and that was it ..... How long will it be before the gap between "connected" people and the others is too wide to be bridged ? Should we be thinking of slowing down on all that geek creativity and make sure not too many people are left on the side of the road? In the end it is just a symptom of our society ... more, faster, richer, shorter planned obsolescence ......  too bad if part of the population of the planet is left out .... and that is the word  that we  seniors should be conveying to the younger ones .... Every now and then, stop and think! You needn't rush .... A lifetime is long and it is worth slowing down before it is too late to go back !

Anyway .... I am so glad I am learning so many new things ..... Just thanks to getting ready for the Athens Express.

The photo is just so that you have a look at what I have to deal with because of my Geeking !
