The next three years will be particularly relevant for the EGP, because after several years in the opposition in Europe and in some countries, there is a concrete possibility to come back to a more influential role. This is particularly needed of course, because despite our good results in 2009, the Green New Deal and our vision of a more united and democratic Europe does not represent yet a majority option in the EP and in the Commission.

I hereby would like to present my candidature for the post of co-Spokesperson of the European Green party. As you know next November the EGP will renew its committee.

I think that over the past term we were able to build from the past and strengthen the political relevance and the organisational structure of the EGP; we also tried to support the work of our parties the best we could. This work is by no means over and I am willing to continue in this task.

I am really convinced that in the last term we were able to raise the profile and the quality of our political proposal. Now we need to get the necessary consensus to be able to realize it and we need to lead a good campaign in 2014; this implies of course also to go on giving priority to the construction and consolidation of the Greens in Southern, Central and Eastern Europe which remain still too weak.

Thank you very much and I am looking forward to Athens.
Monica
