Parallel session organised during 28th EGP Council in Antwerp, Saturday 19 May 2018, 14.00 - 15.30
Accessibility can be defined as the "ability to access" and benefit from some system or entity. Although it is mostly used with the focus on enabling access for people with disabilities, or with special needs, research and development in accessibility brings benefits to everyone. Especially when it comes to public spaces, the other highly affected groups in the society are elderly, families with little children, etc.
What is missing in public spaces to be accessible for everyone; what are the most common problems around Europe; how can they be prevented and what is the importance of careful urban planning are some of the questions we will explore during this session.
