28th Council - Antwerp
The European Greens were delighted to gather the green family from across Europe together with Groen, one of the Belgian Green parties, between 18-20 May in the city of Antwerp, Belgium.
The Groen party are currently represented in the city Council, and have a candidate for Mayor.
We believe the Council was a chance for us to share our common goals and lay the groundwork towards the 2019 election campaign, including deciding on the procedure to elect the leading candidates.
Our commitment for a Green transformation of Europe is undimmed. We showed that we have the capacity to organise, inspire, and engage around the issues that matter to people today.
Building a ‘Social Europe’ will be on top of the agenda. As Europeans, we don’t only need a Europe that can compete globally, but one that can offer unparalleled access to care and equal opportunities for its citizens. Other topics discussed were the future of Europe, the blight of plastic pollution and green cities.
