Visit to the Berlin House of Representatives
The 2018 Berlin Council will start with the opportunity to visit the Berlin House of Representatives which is the State Legislature of the City and State of Berlin. After the fall of the Berlin Wall in 1989 the elected deputies of a reunited Berlin first sat in Chamber in 1993, sixty years after the Nazi takeover which had robbed it of its democratic function.
Apart from visiting the building you will have the possibility to learn about the House's history and about the role of the House in Berlin's political system. Moreover, you will discover the German Greens’ parliamentary work as part of Berlin’s governing coalition and there will be a short discussion with the leader of the Bündnis 90 / Die Grünen Green Group, Antje Kapek.
You should have in mind that the visit will start at 9:00, but it is necessary to go through the security control in order to enter the Parliament. Therefore, the meeting point will be at the entrance of the Berlin House of Representatives at 08:45.

Antje Kapek, leader of the Bündnis 90 / Die Grünen Green Group of Berlin House of Representatives
The geographer and urban planner Antje Kapek has been a member of the Berlin House of Representatives for Alliance 90/The Greens since 2011. Initially, she was deputy caucus leader, since October 2012 she has been the caucus leader. She was spokesperson for urban planning of the Green parliamentary group until the end of 2017. Before joining the Berlin House of Representatives Antje Kapek was a member of parliament of the Berlin district Friedrichshain-Kreuzberg from 2006 until 2011 (from 2008 as caucus leader) and staff member of the Green MEP Michael Cramer
