Europeanisation of National Parliaments in European Union Member States: Experiences and Best-Practices
During this session we will present and discuss Katrin Auel’s and Christine Neuhold’s study on the Europeanisation of national parliaments. They have analysed comprehensively, for the first time, the different ways in which national parliaments are presently dealing with European issues and taking advantage of their peculiar institutional role in the European Union. The study looked at questions like: What are the different ways in which national parliaments approach the EU? Which national parliaments are more or less effective in integrating EU affairs in their work? As a result, the authors have come up with a novel and multifaceted mapping of national parliaments’ European role.
